The once so tolerent attitude of the Dutch governement has been altered last years. (Thank you EU). Due to new rules there are some restrictions for coffeeshops in Holland.

Because there are problems in border areas with drug offenders, all Dutch soon obliged to use a system with registered membership cards called a “weedpas”.

From 1 May 2012 these new rules will apply to the sale of soft drugs, so that tourists will no longer be able to buy soft drugs in the Netherlands.

Customers who live in the Netherlands and are registered with a Dutch municipality will only be able to buy soft drugs from a coffee shop if they are a registered member there.

The new rules will apply from 1 May 2012 in the provinces of Zeeland, North Brabant and Limburg.

They will apply everywhere in the Netherlands from 1 January 2013

Damn, it will soon become even easier in America to get a joint than in the Netherlands…

The weed is discovered during archaeological research. The old pot was found in a tomb from the Stone Age in the vicinity of Hattemerbroek (Gelderland).

Medical use
The tomb was found in 2007, but it took 5 years before it was scientifically determined which plants of the large amounts of pollen in the pit were. The yeti-weed is probably used medicinally due to the analgesic effect, as is now also happening again. Reason to assume this is because they also found meadowsweet, a plant with a fever-lowering action. To our knowledge, these investigations provide the oldest documentation of cannabis as a pharmacologically active agent.

4200 year old pot
The tomb has characteristics of the Beaker culture,
dating from the period 2459 – 2203 BC.
Nearby was a child’s grave found in 2800 – 2400 BC. In the tombs are also cups, amber beads and jewelry were found. The Valkhof Museum in Nijmegen has these finds in depot. Lets hope we can see more of this historic cannabis.

* to our knowledge the last mentioned “Oldest cannabis” finds – Gobi Desert about 700 BC – were reported in 2008 by Discovery News.

History of the coffeeshops

How it started…

In the sixties you have got twelve months imprisonment for twelve cigarettes with marijuana. But when early seventies the exhausts of cars sanded on the Amsterdam streets because the boots were full of hashish, drug use was also for the Amsterdam narcotics brigade (two-man) unstoppable.

In 1970 there was a massive festival in a forrest near Rotterdam “het Kralingse Bos”, the European answer to Woodstock ’69.

One of the twelve undercover agents who was present at that festival, told how he saw a massive crowd “like Alice in Wonderland” walking, dancing and blowing.

Tolerance
It was then, for the first time in history, police decided not to intervene: too dangerous in a crowd of 90,000. And thus was born the tolerance.

Since 1976 the Narcotics Act has distinguished between drugs that pose unacceptable risks to public health (hard drugs such as heroin, cocaine, XTC and amphetamines) and hemp products (soft drugs: hashish and marijuana). Possession, dealing, sales, production and so forth have been made punishable for all drugs, with the exception of medical, veterinary, instructional and scientific purposes, for which permission must be obtained. Offences against the Narcotics Act are punished severely, but the penalties for soft drug offences are less severe than those for hard drug offences.

Top priority is given to investigating imports and exports of hard drugs, and the heaviest penalties apply to these offences.
As far as its national legislation is concerned, the Netherlands is not only bound by UN treaties, but also by agreements made among the European states with a view to combating the narcotics trade.

Magnesium chloride can be most effectively combined with cannabinoids

Magnesium chloride and cannabinoids blend together magnificently in harmony and I like to think of them as the “Batman and Robin” of the medical world.

Magnesium chloride is a potent mineral medicine; it is safe and incredibly fast-acting, as is marijuana. When magnesium is combined with cannabinoid medicine we dramatically increase the medical horsepower we are applying and can expect superior results. For many conditions, using both together will yield results much greater than when using either alone. Magnesium is the lamp of life and without it we are toast! Cannabinoids tap into communication on cellular and intracellular levels like nothing else does, orchestrating changes in people not only on physical levels but also on emotional, mental and spiritual plains of existence.

Magnesium, especially when applied transdermally, is the medical miracle we have been waiting for and, when used to support the use of medical marijuana, takes us to a new level of safe and effective medical practice. Cannabinoids have been around forever and so has magnesium in the sea, but it is only recently that magnesium has been discovered for the beautiful medicine it is. The two together should be stocked in medicine cabinets providing the safest, most effective medicine team we can recommend for patients.

Medical marijuana should be legalized as it has much medical value. It is one of the safest drugs in existence, certainly safer than anything the pharmaceutical companies put out but that should not surprise us. Mother Nature outdid herself with cannabis and we will talk about it as a holy herb, but my assistant, psychiatric nurse Claudia French, has seen people who have suffered from continuous pot use.

As with any medicine there are warnings and precautions and contraindications and we have a chapter on this as well as plenty of information and an exploration of addiction. But at this point in human civilization the cannabis plant offers a huge helping hand to our race at a time of great need.

The really bad news about marijuana though is reserved for the pharmaceutical companies whose profits would deteriorate enormously if the real truth of cannabinoid medicine ever got out to the public and to the rank-and-file members of the American Medical Association who used to champion its use before it was made illegal.

Our super-hero medical team (cannabis and magnesium) will vastly reduce our suffering and pain from diseases while at the same time taking these drug companies to the bankruptcy courts where they belong.

Red Light District
The Red Light District in Amsterdam is commonly known as De Wallen. Right behind the Krasnapolsky hotel at the Dam square the fun starts with unlimited amounts of sex shows, prostitution and coffeeshops.

It is one of the most crowded areas of the city, but stilla great place to walk through, but do not try to take any pictures.
Alternatively, you can go to the Spuistraat. This street is only a 5 minute walk from the Central Station. No fuss, just prostitutes.

Zeedijk
The Zeedijk is located in one of the oldest parts of Amsterdam: the nautical district. Around the Nieuwmarkt and Zeedijk you will find all kinds of Asian restaurants.
The Asian-Fusion restaurants serve excellent food for a reasonable price.

The Zeedijk is right in the heart of the city and just a short walk from central station and within a few minutes walk of Nieuwmarkt as well as Dam Square.

Dam Square
Regardless of the moment of the day, you can never be lonely in the Dam Square. There is a permanent rumor day and night.

Maybe you to start by visiting the Royal Palace, once the official royal residence, now the location of most important official ceremonies, private or cultural events.
However, before visiting it, you should check if it opens, as the Royal Palace is sometimes closed for public.

Vondelpark
Amsterdam’s largest and most famous park, Vondelpark is often compared to New York City’s Central Park, the dimensions are much smaller though.

Vondelpark is at the southern edge of what is considered the city center, but it’s a very close walk from Leidseplein and even closer to Museumplein, which is where the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum are located.

At the begin of August (check their site for the latest info), the partypeople crawl out of the dark. DanceValley is their destination. A massive festival in Spaarnwoude just outside Amsterdam. Over there deep beats start at 10am en won’t stop till 11pm. This year the festival is even multi-day and includes a campsite. At dancevalley 100+ DJ’s from all over the world play their set.

More then 10 different stages, and over 50.000 partypeople. Dancevalley has started several years ago, as an small party for less then 10.000 people. As far as I know the first massive daylight party in Europe. The loveparade in Berlin started later I think, but overflows the number of 50.000 by far of course. After an upcoming popularity and party’s with mainstages as big as a four floor building, and more then 90.000 partypeople, now days the number of tickets to the festival is strictly limited.

Pre sale tickets are sold out very soon, so if you want to be there, be quick! More info can be found at the official DanceValley website.

Queensday: Every year the 30th of April Amsterdam is orange

When visiting Amsterdam around the 30th of April, be prepared for a massive party. Amsterdam has turned into orange…

Why? The reason for this national event is that we (the Dutch) celebrate the birthday of the former Queen of Holland, who passed away a couple of years ago. Her daughter (Beatrix, nowdays our Queen) continued with that tradition. Most shops are closed this day, and the serious Dutch go crazy.

Outdoor DJ-performances, markets, food, drinks and a lot of tolerance. Some places which are popular every year:

Dam

Museumplein

Frederiksplantsoen

Rembrandtplein

Westermarkt

Stopera

Queen’s Day is also a typical occasion for the world-famous Orange Craze. On this day most of the people wear orange clothing and creative orange accessories. The colour orange is a ubiquitous sight, referring to the name of our royal family, the House of Orange. Everywhere in the city you’ll see orange banners, orange coloured foods and drinks. So don’t forget your orange t-shirt when you join us in the Orange Party!

The Cannabis College Foundation is a non-profit information center based in the heart of Amsterdam. CCA was founded in 1998. They strive to provide visitors from across the globe with correct, objective, and honest information regarding every aspect of the Cannabis Sativa plant.

The Cannabis College has a free admission, it offers free advice on safe recreational use, as well as educating the public about the resourcefulness of this sadly prohibited plant. Guided tours in the cannabis garden allow us to illustrate our information with a beautiful, completely organic example of indoor growing.Volunteers gladly help visitors to educate themselves, allowing to spread the truth to generation after generation.

With many new developments in the medical world, social and industrial advances, and a constant fresh wave of politicians on the horizon, they feel it is their duty to provide you with the information you need.

Note: the cannabis college is a cultural experience, no shop. When you want to buy the stuff, the real coffeeshops are nearby….

The time has come to update global knowledge, surely our best defense against the War on Drugs. The Cannabis College participates in and hosts a wide variety of special events, group visits and lectures may also be arranged. For more information please contact them.
